BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - The Siena Saints men's golf team finished the 2007 Birmingham-Southern Spring Invitational in fifth place with a total score of 901 strokes Tuesday at Oxmoor Golf Course in Birmingham, Alabama. Senior Bryan Bigley (Rotterdam, N.Y./Schalmont) led the Saints individually, as he finished the tournament were he left off at the conclusion of the first day tying for second place with a score of 214. Claiming the individual title was Birmingham Southern's J.T. Clendenin, who posted a 70 in the final 18 holes of play to finish with a score of 207.
Tennessee Tech University shot a 288 in the final day to slide past Birmingham-Southern to capture the tournament championship.
As a team, Dan Abbondandolo (Oyster Bay Cove, N.Y./Saint Dominic) improved his play in the final day, as he shot a 71 to move up six spots, finishing tied for 12th with a total score of 222, while senior Alex Arrigo (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville) tied in 26th place with 229 strokes.
Seniors Dennis Gosier (Gansevoort, N.Y./Saratoga) and Allen Parker (Blandford, Mass./Gateway Regional) finished tied 51st and 61st place, respectively to cap the Saints' scoring. Gosier shot an 81 in the final day to end the tournament with 236 strokes, while Parker fired an 82 to finish with 242 strokes.
The Saints are back in action on March 16th Fairfield University Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
