ALBANY, N.Y. - Kenny Hasbrouck scored 17 points to lead balanced Siena past Saint Peter's 66-50 in Albany.
The Saints held Saint Peter's scoreless for the final 8:45 of the first half, using a 14-0 run to take a 38-25 lead to the lockerroom.
Siena made just one of its first 16 field goal attempts in the second half, but still led 44-31 when Alex Franklin broke the drought with a lay up at the 10:58 mark. The Peacocks cut the gap to 52-45, with 5:54 to go on an Akeem Gooding free throw, but could get no closer. The Saints utilized a 14-3 run to take their largest lead, 66-48 with 1:42 to go.
Tay Fisher came off the bench to score 11 points for Siena. He also keyed an effective pressure defense, collecting four of the Saints' 11 steals.
Raul Orta led Saint Peter's with 12 points. Gooding had 10 and a game-high eight rebounds.
Ronald Moore and Edwin Ubiles each had nine points in the win. David Ryan and Alex Franklin had eight a piece. Franklin and classmate Cory Magee finished with seven rebounds and combined for 10 of the Saints' 14 offensive boards.
Siena made all 11 of its free throws after going 3-12 from the line in their win over Iona Thursday.
It was the seventh time this season Siena has held an opponent under 40% from the field. The Saints are 6-1 in those games.
Siena returns to action Friday at Iona and will complete its season series with Saint Peter's a week from today in Jersey City.
