WORCESTER, MASS. (AP) - Alex Franklin scored 22 points to lead Siena to an 83-71 victory over Holy Cross on Tuesday.
Kenny Hasbrouck scored eight points during a decisive 9-0 second-half run for the Saints (8-4), who have won six of their last seven games.
R.J. Evans, a freshman, scored 21 points for Holy Cross (4-9). The Crusaders played without three of their starters, and Siena forced 23 turnovers.
The Saints led 41-34 at halftime and extended their lead to 53-41 on Hasbrouck's 3-pointer. Holy Cross cut the advantage to 53-45 with 14:30 left, but Hasbrouck scored and then got another 3-pointer.
Hasbrouck stole the ball from Evans and scored two free throws. Owen Wignot then added another steal and also scored two foul shots to give the Saints an insurmountable 62-45 lead with 9:41 left.
Hasbrouck joined Franklin as one of four Saints in double figures with 19 points, while Ryan Rossiter added 15 and Edwin Ubiles 10. Franklin shot 8-for-10 from the floor and added four blocks and three steals in a strong all-around showing.
The Saints connected on 25 of their 33 free throw attempts and also recorded 15 steals.
Siena returns to action for a New Year's Day matinee against Fairfield. Tip time is set for 2 p.m. from Times Union Center.
