Eggleston Appointed to NCAA Division I Amateurism Cabinet

May 13, 2008

Loudonville, N.Y. - Siena College Associate Director of Athletics Joyce Eggleston was named to the NCAA Division I Amateurism Cabinet as announced recently by the NCAA. Eggleston, who also serves as the department's Senior Women's Administrator and Director of Compliance, will begin her four year term on Sept. 1.

"I look forward to representing the conference on the national level to review and formulate amateurism regulations that are fair to prospective and currently enrolled student-athletes," Eggleston said.

The NCAA Division I Amateurism Cabinet assumes jurisdiction over all pre and post enrollment amateurism issues, including oversight of issues pertaining to the NCAA Eligibility Center, student-athlete likeness issues and the relationship between collegiate and professional athletes.

A 29-year employee within Siena's Athletics Department, Eggleston was nominated by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference to represent the league's ten full-time athletic institutions.

"Joyce has very good experience in working with student-athlete service issues and questions," remarked Siena Director of Athletics John D'Argenio. "She has handled many different issues and questions related to student-athlete eligibility. Her expertise will be of great value to the cabinet and she will represent Siena and the MAAC extremely well."

In addition to her roles within the department, Eggleston also serves on the MAAC Gender Equity and Diversity and Compliance and Enforcement Committees and is chair of the volleyball committee. At Siena, she is a member of the college's Human Rights, Administrative Systems, Performance Development, Hall of Fame and Risk Management Committees. She is also an active member of the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee.

Eggleston begins her nearly four year term on Sept. 1 of this year, which runs through July 1, 2012. The NCAA Division I Amateurism cabinet is comprised of 20 members and is chaired by Mike Rogers, the Faculty Athletic Representative at Baylor University.
