Burgandy McCurty finished with 21 kills and Kelly Hummel had 15 as Siena won the final two sets to oust MAAC foe Niagara on the road Sunday. The win gave the Saints a split of their annual Western New York swing, evening the team's league record at 1-1.
The Saints trailed 2-1 despite winning the first set 25-21. Niagara took the second set 25-22 and the third 25-19, but Siena won the fourth 25-19 and the fifth 15-13.
Siena received solid contributions up and down the roster. Senior setter April London had 50 assists and nine digs. Junior Kau'i Robello equaled a match-high with 18 digs, solidifying the back row defense in the absence of senior libero Kathi Kobayashi.
Sophomore Amanda Begin collected 13 kills in 37 attacks on the outside and classmate Aimee Gosse had 13 digs.
Niagara was led by Holly Allgeier who posted a match-high 21 kills. The Saints finally open their home season Wednesday night against Binghamton.
