LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena men's soccer lost to Central Connecticut State 3-2 in overtime Sunday afternoon in Fairfield, Conn. David Tyrie scored the golden goal two minutes into overtime.
Siena (1-5-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute on a goal by Bobby DiFilippo. Freshman Matt Turcio ripped a shot off the left post that rebounded to DiFilippo who shot it past goalkeeper Paul Armstrong. The Saints added to their lead five minutes into the second half on a goal from Turcio. Sebastien Anzevui played a ball into the box that Armstrong tipped, but Turcio finished it two feet off the goal line.
CCSU (5-2-1) cut the lead in half in the 65th minute. Yan Klukowski scored on a penalty kick after a Siena foul in their own box.
The Blue Devils tied the game 2-2 in the 83rd minute. Eddie Floyd played a long ball up the left side for David Tyrie who hit the shot far post past goalkeeper Steve Skonieczny.
The Blue Devils scored the golden goal two minutes into overtime on a corner kick. Yan Klukowski took the corner and sent the ball to David Tyrie who headed it home.
CCSU outshot Siena 22-14. Skonieczny made nine saves in the loss while Armstrong made two.
The Saints return to action Friday at the University of Rhode Island at 7 p.m.
