LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena men's cross country team finished third overall while the women placed fifth Saturday morning during the team's opening meet of the season at the 4th annual Saint Rose Golden Knights Joust. Freshman Ian Donnelly was the top finisher on the men's side with 27:31 for 10th place overall. Sophomore Brina Seguine led the women's team with 19:15 for third place overall.
The men finished the five mile race with 101 points and the women completed the 3 mile race with 126 points. RPI's men and women both took first place - the men finished with 50 points and the women finished with 70 points. LeMoyne's Jake McAndrew (26:28) and Saint Michael's Mary Lynn Denholm (18:12) set course records on their way to first place finishes.
Senior Ryan Donnelly finished 18th with a time of 27:59. Freshman David Ellsworth (28:31), Greg Moss (28:41), and Jed Turnbull (28:45) also scored for the Saints.
Junior Carly Calogero finished 17th with a time of 20:28. Sophomore Jessica Morelli (20:59), and juniors Samantha Grady (21:05) and Ashley Gardineer (21:29) also scored for the women's team.
