LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Katie Ness and Molly Chamberlain each won two events apiece as the Saints swam past Sacred Heart, 136-89 this afternoon at Siena Swim Center. The Saints (6-4) won eight of 13 events in their first home meet in two months and final competition of 2009.
"I thought today's performance was outstanding," noted head coach Greg Brown. "The team worked hard and earned a well-deserved victory."
Ness swam the 50 free in the second fastest time in school history (:24.54), while also pacing the pool in the 100 free (:53.98). Chamberlain meanwhile posted wins in the 200 free (1:57.64) and 100 breast (1:09.79).
"I was very pleased with Katie's performance today," added Brown. "She's really proving to be one of the top sprinters in the conference and we are very excited to see what she can do in the conference championships."
Other Siena event winners included Bethany Fried in the 100 free (11:05.80), Brittany Pavolko in the 100 back (1:02.05), Elizabeth Rice in one-meter dives (239.20) and Caitlyn Biagioli in the 400 IM. Biagioli's time of 4:43.68 was just .07 off the school record.
The Saints return to action and ring in the New Year on Jan. 13 at Loyola. Meet time is set for 11 a.m.
