The Siena men's golf team opened the spring portion of its 2008-09 season with an eighth place finish at the Troy Invitational Sunday in Crestview, Fla. Dan Abbondandolo led all Siena competitors, finishing tied for 23rd overall.

Mississippi State won the invitational, with host Troy second. Siena shot a three round team score of 973 to finish eighth in the nine team field. The Bulldogs also had the top individual competitor with Noah Goldman shooting a +5 over three rounds of a tournament plagued by inclement weather.

Abbondandolo led Siena with rounds of 82, 77 and 79. Teammate Nick Miller was a close second amongst Siena contributors with rounds of 83, 83 and 76.

The Saints return to action Mar. 9 for the first day of the LIU Invitational to be played in Savannah, Ga.
