Navy Final Results

The Siena men's golf team placed seventh overall in the 18-team field at the Navy Spring Invitational which concluded Sunday afternoon in Annapolis, Md. Senior captain Dan Abbondandolo led the Saints, finishing tied for fourth overall in the squad's final event prior to the MAAC Tournament.

Johnson & Wales University (Fla.) came from behind to win the team championship, finishing four strokes better overall than first round leader Binghamton. The Bearcats' Trevor Fielder won the individual crown, shooting even par scores of 71 through each of the 18-hole rounds.

Abbondandolo shot a 74 on the final day after firing a 72 on Saturday. He finished at +4 for the tournament. Sophomore Don DeNyse III, who had led Siena through the first round, finished five shots back of Abbondandolo while Jim Gifford placed six strokes back of his fellow captain.

The Saints travel to Florida this week in preparation for the 2009 MAAC Tournament. The championships begin on Friday in Orlando.
