Entering the final round tied for 11th overall, the Siena men's golf team finished strong Sunday in recording the fourth best team score of the day in finishing tied for seventh place overall at the Navy Fall Golf Classic in Annapolis, Md.

Northwestern dominated the final 18 holes, shooting a team score of -14 in leapfrogging host Navy to capture the team crown by a wide margin. The Wildcats also boasted the top individual finisher in Sam Chien who finished -7 overall in the 36-hole event.

The Saints bested their team score of 303 on Saturday by 14 shots on the final day as each member shot no worse than a 75 in a solid showing. Siena finished tied with Saint Joseph's for seventh in the 17-team field.

Freshman David Gushee completed an impressive collegiate debut, leading the Siena contingent by finishing tied for 15th overall individually. Gushee, who shot a 75 on Saturday, improved his score by four strokes to shoot even par during the final round.

Junior Don DeNyse III (75-72-147) and sophomore Nick Miller (77-72-149) also paced the Saints on Sunday and rounded out the teams' top-three performers.

The Saints return to action Friday for their second fall tune-up at the Leo Keenan Invitational. The two day event hosted by St. Bonaventure takes place in Olean, N.Y.
