Saints Can't Hold Lead, Lose 2-1

Sept. 15, 2009

Final Stats

Siena men's soccer was poised to win its fourth game of the season on the legs of freshman Sindre Ek's goal in the second minute of the game, but Colgate stormed back to score two goals in the final 11 minutes to win 2-1 Tuesday evening in Hamilton, N.Y. Colgate outshot Siena 23-8 and tallied the game winner in the 83rd minute.

The Saints (3-2) took their earliest lead of the season when Ek got in behind the Colgate defense and beat goalkeeper Chris Miller one-on-one. Ek has two goals and leads the team with 14 shots this season. He scored the game winner in Siena's last game, a 3-2 victory over St. Bonaventure.

Colgate (4-1) evened the game with just over 10 minutes left in the game on Shane Conlin's first goal of the season. He led all players with seven shots. Three minutes later, Chris Salmon supplied the game winner off a free kick by Jeff Leach.

Freshman goalkeeper Philip Chabot made four saves in his second consecutive start. Miller earned the win with four saves.

Siena returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Central Connecticut State University. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
