Final Stats

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Freshman goalkeeper Phil Chabot made highlight reel saves throughout and his offense exploded in the second half to give Siena men's soccer a 4-0 win over Central Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon at Siena Turf Field. Chabot stopped two breakaways and made seven saves in all to earn the win. Siena recorded its highest goal total since its 6-1 win over Marist on November 1, 2008.

Siena (4-2) and CCSU (3-2) had plenty of scoring chances throughout the game. The difference was Chabot controlling the Siena penalty box and his teammates finishing their opportunities. CCSU's Taylor Morgan was in one-on-one with Chabot in the 27th minute, but the young keeper came out and made the save. One minute later, junior midfielder Sebastien Anzevui bent a free kick from the left side of the box into the ride side netting.

Seven minutes into the second half, Chabot stuffed Morgan on another breakaway. Junior forward Joe Tavernese added to Siena's lead in the 66th minute; the first of three Siena goals in a 10-minute span. Anzevui swung a corner in from the right side and an unmarked Tavernese touched it off the bounce and into the back of the net. Chabot came up big again just three minutes later. He made a diving save on Eddie Floyd's header, which would be CCSU's last shot until the final three minutes of the game.

Freshman Daniel Alderstad made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute when he collected the ball on a defender's miscue and beat the keeper one-on-one at the left post. One minute later, Tavernese tallied his second goal of the game on a low strike to the far post. It was his first multi-goal game of his career.

Siena returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts cross-town rival UAlbany. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
