LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Northeastern set three new Siena Swim Center records in defeating the Siena Swimming and Diving Team 187-110 Saturday afternoon on Senior Day. Sophomore Katie Ness broke the school record in the 50 free for Siena, which finished the regular season with a program-record 10 wins.
Prior to the meet, Siena honored graduating seniors Meaghan Brauer, Allison O'Keefe and Kathryn Cuffaro in a special ceremony.
"I thought we gave our seniors a real nice sendoff today and everything they had done for the program has been outstanding," noted head coach Greg Brown.
Siena (10-6) won four events during the afternoon, with Ness capturing a team-leading two. She broke the school record in the 50 free with a time of :24.34 while also winning the 100 fly with a time of 1:03.26.
"I was very pleased with Katie's swim today in the 50 free," added Brown. "Despite the fact I know the team is swimming tired right now I'm very excited about the way we are going to perform at MAAC Championships."
Other Siena event winners on the day included Brittany Pavolko in the 200 fly (2:12.18) and Nicole Hagi in the 400 IM (4:52.79).
Meanwhile, Northeastern had a strong afternoon, setting new Siena Swim Center relay records in both the 400 medley relay (4:05.24) and 200 free relay (1:38.39). Additionally, Jill Kearns set a new pool record in the 400 IM (4:36.20), although her time was exhibitioned.
The Saints return to action for the 2010 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships which take place February 11-13 on the campus of Loyola College in Baltimore, Md.
