Men's and Women's cross country both placed 35th at the NCAA Northeast Regionals Saturday at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Connecticut. The men ran a 10k instead of their usual 8k, and the women ran their usual 6k during Regionals.
"Most of the men ran their best 10k times ever," stated head coach Alison Wade. Senior John Farley led the Saints with an overall time of 34:08.0 with a pace of 5:30. Sophomore Davin Piispanen started strong, but unfortunately had to drop out after injuring himself trying to avoid a fallen runner.
Junior David Ellsworth followed Farley with a time of 34:57.3. Freshmen Alex Liontas and Ryan Egan finished back-to-back with times 35:05.8 and 35:06.4, respectively.
Meanwhile, the women also showed improvement. Wade noted that Brina Seguine, Meghan Yi and Christy Bak all improved their times from two weeks ago. Seguine finished first for the Saints with a time of 23:44.5 and a pace of 6:22. Yi and Samantha D'Amato finished within second of each with times of 24:38.7 and 24:52.8, respectively.
