Ryan Rossiter enjoyed one of the best individual weeks in Siena basketball history, and for his efforts he was named MAAC co-Player of the Week by the league office today. A Siena player has now won or shared the award all three weeks this season (Rossiter 11/15 and Jackson 11/22). It is the fifth time Rossiter has won or shared the award in his career.
Rossiter averaged 19.3 points and 17.7 rebounds in games against Butler, Rider and Princeton. He has recorded at least 15 rebounds in all three contests and now leads the nation with 14.5 boards per game. Rossiter also became Siena's all-time double-doubles leader, raising his career total to 37 with three monster efforts.
He scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a tough home loss to Butler, tallied 18 points and hauled in 17 rebounds in Siena's MAAC-opening win over Rider and recorded 14 points and 21 rebounds in Sunday's overtime loss to Princeton. Rossiter's 21 rebounds Sunday were the most by a Saint in 18 years. He shot 51% from the field for the week and blocked three shots.
Rossiter enters Siena's showdown with UAlbany three points shy of his benchmark 1,000th career point.
Rossiter shares the award with Iona guard Kyle Smyth who scored 29 points in the Gaels win at UAlbany.
