Siena men's golf bounced back after a tough spring opener to finish tied for fifth overall at the Lafayette Invitational in Center Valley, Pa. Freshman David Gushee relinquished his overall lead heading into the final day, but still shot a stellar 71 to finish tied for second overall.
Binghamton held on to win a tighly contested battle by two strokes over Bucknell. The Saints, who were tied for fifth with Lehigh, finished just 15 shots off the pace.
Gushee shot even par over the 36 holes to finish with a two-round total of 144. He led the field by two strokes entering play Sunday, but Bucknell's Andrew Cohen shot a remarkable round of 66 to top Gushee by three strokes for the individual crown.
Sophomore Justin Deitz, who has battled back through a number of injuries over the past year, rounded back into form with a final round score of 74 to finish second amongst Siena competitors.
The Saints return to action Saturday for the Navy Spring Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
