Final Stats
For the second straight match, the Siena men's tennis team came within a tiebreaker in a doubles match from earning a victory, only to be denied by Saint Francis 4-3 Saturday here in Loudonville.
The good news is sophomore Mike Amico continues his meteoric rise as one of the true stars in the MAAC.
Amico rocked Danhaldi Robinson 6-2 and 6-1 at top singles for his third win in three singles competitions this season. Peter Collins also improved to 3-0 for the Saints with a 6-0 and 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
But the match again came down to the key doubles point as each team won three singles matches. Saint Francis won top doubles 8-6 and Siena earned an 8-5 win at second doubles. That left it up to the No. 3 doubles teams to decide the match. The Terriers team of Martin Grunin and Daniel Gonzalez defeated Shawn Conroy and Dylan Roberts 9-8 and 7-2 in the critical tiebreaker.
The Saints have a quick turnaround as they travel to play Hofstra tomorrow.
