Final Stats
The Hofstra Men's Tennis team swept the doubles play and captured four of the six singles matches on its way to a 5-2 non-conference victory over Siena at the Hofstra Tennis Center Sunday afternoon. Hofstra is 1-0 while Siena falls to 1-3.
The Pride began doubles play with freshman Antonio Pena and sophomore Jon Disley posting an 8-1 victory over sophomore Mike Amico and junior Jarrett Siwiec at number one. The freshmen tandem of Matt Gemmell and Adrien Bailly downed senior Rob Cooperman and freshman Peter Collins, 8-2, at second doubles and senior Jason Sinkoff and freshman Laurent Octobre defeated senior Shawn Conroy and sophomore Dylan Roberts, 8-6 at number three for a 1-0 lead.
Bailly gave the Pride a 2-0 advantage with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Cooperman at number six singles, and Gemmell posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Siwiec at number three. Sinkoff gave Hofstra the victory with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Conroy at number five for a 4-0 lead.
Pride sophomore Pedro Gimenez dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Collins at number four. It was the freshman's third straight singles win to open his Siena career. Pena then downed Siena's Amico, 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 at number one to give Hofstra a 5-1 advantage in the match. Dylan Roberts closed out the contest with a 4-6, 7-6, 10-6 win over Pride sophomore Jon Disley at number two.
