Siena's swimming and diving team fell victim to their second straight tough matchup on the road Saturday, falling to Saint Francis (Pa.) 140-114. Sophomore Kaela Bjornberg led the Saints with three individual wins in the losing effort.
Bjornberg earned her first win of the day in the 200 fly, stopping the timer in 2:12.89. She then keyed a 1-2 finish with senior teammate Lauren Maxwell in the 200 breast with a time of 2:31.18, over three seconds faster than the rest of the field. Finally, she took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.15.
Other winners for Siena (7-4-1) included Katie Ness in the 50 free, who out-touched Alicia Ford of Saint Francis by just two one-hundredths of a second in 24.73 seconds, as well as Brittany Pavolko in the 100 fly (59.86) and the team of Molly Chamberlain, Pavolko, Dana Tricarico, and Ness in the meet-ending 200 free relay (1:40.60).
Siena returns home for their final meet of the regular season on February 5th, when they host Fairfield at the Siena Swim Center at 1 p.m. A pre-meet ceremony will also be held to celebrate Senior Day and the Siena class of 2011, one that has been a part of four consecutive winning seasons in Loudonville.
