Siena swimming and diving suffered a setback Saturday, falling 177-104 at Vermont. The loss stopped a hot streak where the Saints won six of seven decisions, and is the program's seventh consecutive defeat in their rivalry with the Catamounts.
Freshman Shannon Love provided a few bright spots for Siena (6-3), winning two events for the Saints. She first took top honors in the 50 free (:24.95) before taking down the 100 free (54.97) in exciting fashion, winning the latter race by just seven one-hundredths of a second over Vermont's (4-0) Katie Adams. Additionally, reigning MAAC Swimmer of the Week Jacque Medina took second place in the 500 free (5:17.83), while junior Kaela Bjornberg notched third-place finishes in both the 100 fly (1:01.05) and 200 breast (2:33.44).
Siena returns to the pool on November 12 in a tri-meet against Niagara and Bryant at the Siena Swim Center.
