Final Stats

ALBANY, N.Y. - Siena's freshman class has played some electrifying basketball this season, Monday night was not one of those occasions. Fordham raced out to a 13-3 lead just three and a half minutes into the game and never looked back, handing the Saints a 74-59 loss Monday night at Times Union Center.

The Saints' (3-7) heavily relied upon freshmen shot just 5-21 (23.8%) from the field, including 1-11 from 3-point range. They also committed eight of the Saints' 15 turnovers, leading to 23 Fordham points. The result was Siena's seventh loss in eight games, and the team's largest home margin of defeat in almost a year.

The Rams put Siena away early, shooting 53.6% (15-28) from the field in the first half including a blistering 7-11 (63.6%) from three. Fordham's zone paralyzed Siena's offense. Following their game-opening run, the Rams led by eight points or more the rest of the way.

"Give Fordham credit, they played really well," Siena coach Mitch Buoanguro said. "We didn't expect them to shoot the ball that way."

Fordham placed all five starters in double figures. Devon McMillan and Chris Gaston paced the Rams with 16 points apiece. Gaston added 15 rebounds and scored 14 of his points during the second half.

While Siena's youngsters struggled, the Saints' veteran duo of OD Anosike and Kyle Downey put up big numbers again. Anosike posted his sixth straight double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four blocks, while Downey followed up his career-high 23-point performance Friday with 22 points.

Anosike and Downey combined to shoot 16-28 (57.1%) from the floor, while the rest of the team managed to shoot just 18.8% (6-32).

The Saints now have nine days off during the College's final exam period before returning to the hardwood on Dec. 22. Siena will square off with 2011 NCAA Tournament participant Princeton in a 7 p.m. tip here in Albany.
