Siena Men's Lacrosse played its second early season road contest against a top-10 team Saturday, falling to ninth ranked Johns Hopkins, 16-6 at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Md. in a game that was televised nationally on ESPNU. Bryan Neufeld and Danny Martinsen tallied three points apiece in the defeat.
Johns Hopkins (3-0) jumped on the Saints (1-2) early, out-shooting the Green and Gold 15-2 while building a 4-1 lead through the first period. Tom Morr kept Siena close at the start, making six saves in the quarter.
But the Blue Jays extended their lead to 7-2 at the half and never let Siena back into the game. Johns Hopkins out-shot Siena 48-22 and picked up 37 groundballs to the Saints' 19.
Chris Boland and John Greeley each posted hat tricks and finished with five points to lead the Blue Jays which defeated the Saints for a third straight season at Homewood Field.
The reigning MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, Neufeld extended the nation's longest active scoring streak to 38 games, pacing the Saints offense with two goals and an assist while Martinsen scored once and added a pair of helpers.
Seniors Dan Lawson and Bryan Renneisen also scored for Siena, while freshman Colin Clive tallied his first collegiate goal.
