Final Stats
The Siena men's tennis team completed its spring trip by splitting two matches in Orlando. The Saints knocked off Tiffin University in a late-night thriller Wednesday 5-2, and lost to Quinnipiac Thursday 6-1.
The Saints won four of the singles matches and claimed two of three doubles competitions to post the 5-2 win over Tiffin, but it wasn't easy. Four of the six singles contests went three sets, and Siena dug deep to win three of those. Michael Amico, Jarrett Siwiec, Peter Collins and Dylan Roberts held the top four singles spots to secure the victory. Amico swept Luis Carvalho 6-2 and 7-6 at top singles, and Siwiec, Collins and Roberts each won heart-stopping three-set decisions.
The doubles point was decided at second doubles, where Amico and Cooperman pulled out a 9-8 win.
In the Quinnipiac match, Roberts was the only Saint to score, earning a 6-2 and 7-5 win at No. 4 singles.
The Saints finished their southern trip with a 1-3 record. The team lost 7-0 at Bethune-Cookman Saturday, and fell 6-1 to Northern Illinois on Monday. Siena returns to the court March 27 when it starts the home portion of its spring slate against Sacred Heart at 1 p.m.
