Siena men's golf wasn't able to hang onto their first-round lead, but the Saints did finish a strong second at the inaugural Homewood Suites Siena Invitational on Saturday in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The tournament hosts were led by David Gushee, who checked in fourth, and the team as a whole had five top-15 finishers.

After a first-round 76, Gushee improved by two shots Saturday with a two-over-par 74. His total of 150 was just two shots back of individual medalist Robert Cerabone of Fairleigh Dickinson, who shot rounds of 70 and 78 to claim the title.

Don DeNyse III, whose 73 put him among the leaders after day one, fired a 78 despite a quadruple-bogey 7 on the front nine. He tied for fifth with four other competitors. Justin Deitz shot 76 and tied for 11th one day after a 77, while John Van Vranken's second-round 78 tied him for 12th and Mickey Sutton's 81 put him tied for 15th.

Long Island University won the team title by 16 shots, and were led on Saturday by three golfers who shot 72 or better.

Siena returns to action in two weeks at the Villanova Invitational in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
