Siena women's golf won the program's 11th straight MAAC title Sunday, while the men's team slipped to third. The teams also brought two individual titles back to Loudonville, as Katelynn Mannix and Don DeNyse III topped the leaderboards.
The Siena women led the tournament from start to finish, and ended up with a 17-shot margin of victory over Fairfield. Mannix's final-round 73 was the low round of the day, and she topped the individual standings by 11 shots. It's her third individual championship in four years, and she now heads to Yale University in pursuit of a Ph.D.
Freshman Kylie Strijek finished an impressive weekend with an 81, putting her alone in fourth place. Cortney Tilley's final-round 82 put her in fifth, while senior Catherine Shomo ended her Siena career with a ninth-place finish.
Meanwhile, the men's team slipped from their starting position of second. It was a rough day for most of the Saints, as four of the five Siena golfers failed to break 80 after no team member shot worse than 77 before Sunday's play.
However, senior Don DeNyse III made his final round of competition as a Saint one to remember, shooting a 69 that was the day's low round by three shots. His closing burst forced a playoff with Loyola's Patrick McCormick, one DeNyse ultimately won.
Junior Justin Deitz slept on a one-shot lead, but slipped to a tie for fourth. The team standings featured another win for Loyola, while Iona advanced to second.
