Sept. 30, 2011

Men's Results

Women's Results

Siena Cross Country competed in the 38th Annual Paul Short Run Friday afternoon at Lehigh University. The Saints were among more than 450 colleges and 5,000 runners that competed in the annual event featuring some of the best squads in the nation.

"Running at Paul Short is an excellent opportunity to test ourselves against some of the best teams in the country," noted head coach Alison Wade. "You never want to go into a situation with a depleted team, but we did what we felt we needed to do to increase our chances of being successful at the end of the season."

The men ran 45th and the women 44th despite both teams competing without several top runners due to injury. The men were without two of their top three runners, while the women were missing their top four.

Sophomore Brendan Gregg stood out Friday, posting a personal best time in the 8K. Gregg finished 112th overall in the men's brown race with a time of 27:06. Classmate Devin Bennett ran second for the Saints, gritting out a strong race in which he ran ten times his best distance.

On the women's side, junior Chrissy DelSanto paved the way with a time of 25:44 in the 6K. Meghan Yi and Lia Gizzarelli rounded out the Saints' top three.

The Saints return to the course - and the Capital Region - Oct. 15 for the UAlbany Invitational.
