Results
With one day remaining in the ECAC Championships in East Meadow, N.Y. the Siena swimming and diving team currently stands in second place behind leader Stevens Institute of Technology.
Hailey Beers led the way grabbing two medals in the diving competitions. She amassed a score 370.05 out of 11 dives in the one-meter. The two-time MAAC Diver of the Week finished second in the event to Nealy Wallis of NYU who set a new ECAC record with 420.65 points. Beers also grabbed a third place finish in the three-meter, tallying a score of 302.05. With the successful dives shown by Beers, diving coach Sean Bradke was awarded the ECAC Diving coach of the meet.
The lone Siena individual win came in the 200 fly as Amanda York came just three seconds away from a school record finishing with a time of 2:09.76. Two other Saints finished in the top 5 in the event. Emily Carideo placed third (2:12.27) and Jacque Medina clocked in fifth (2:13.25).
Carideo would also finish fourth in the 400 IM clocking in at 4:38.29.
Senior Kaela Bjornberg was the runner-up in the 200 back. She finished behind Stevens' Brittany Geyer with a time of 2:25.20. She also finished fourth in the 100 back with a time of 1:07.66.
Medina took a third place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:56.45.
Rounding out the top-five finishes for the Saints were two relay, the 800 free relay team comprised of York, Medina, Carideo, and Amanda Podczerwinski finished fifth with a time just over eight minutes.
Also finishing in the top-five was the 200 free. Podczerwinski, York, Dana Tricarico, and Shannon Love finished in fourth (1:39.00)
The field of the ECAC Championships is comprised of 13 teams along the East Coast. Two other MAAC squads are participating in the event including Manhattan College (11th place) and Fairfield University (5th place). The event will conclude tomorrow at 10 A.M.
