Siena Wraps MAAC Championships with Finals Appearances and Program Top-10 Marks

Samko Leads the Way as Saints Place Ninth Overall

Siena Swimming & Diving closed out competition with a ninth-place team finish at the MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday, highlighted by multiple finals appearances, personal bests, and several additions to the program's all-time top-10 list.

Clara Samko led the way in the 100-yard freestyle, advancing through prelims and placing 10th overall in 52.14. The swim accounted for 16.5 team points and now ranks third-fastest in program history, surpassing her previous top-10 mark in the event and capping a strong championship showing.

Julia Mihok advanced to the finals in the 200-yard breaststroke and finished 15th in 2:25.37, contributing 12 points to the team total. Her time ranks seventh all-time at Siena and improved upon her previous career best, marking another breakthrough performance on the conference stage.

Abby Clayton also moved past prelims in the 200-yard backstroke, placing 13th overall in finals competition. Her performance secured the fourth-fastest time in program history in the event, adding to Siena's growing list of championship top-10 marks.

In addition to the Saints who reached championship finals, several swimmers turned in strong consolation and scoring swims. Camryn Raines placed 21st in the 100-yard freestyle, while Julia Filiault finished 20th in the 200-yard breaststroke. Skylar Ricard recorded a personal best in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing 17th overall.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Samko, Raines, Natalie Blume, and Mea Amedio closed the meet with a seventh-place finish in 3:29.90, earning 46 points. The quartet came just .36 seconds shy of the program's all-time record, delivering one of the fastest relay performances in school history to punctuate the championship.

Across the four-day meet, Siena produced multiple program top-10 performances, personal bests, and finals swims, adding meaningful points in key events. The Saints' ninth-place finish reflects measurable progress, with several athletes rewriting spots in the record book and delivering strong championship performances to close out the 2025-26 season.
