Let me first just mention a little bit about my girlfriend and I. We dated during our last year of high school, dated long-distance throughout undergrad and managed to get through graduate school as well.

This past year has marked a very important time in our lives because we have both just began our professional careers. She began teaching special education at a local elementary school and I graduated from law school and work at local law firm.

We are now beginning to see our future a little clearer, and see each other in it. While the past eight years have been difficult at times, I have no reservations about our love for each other.

As many recent graduates can attest, the reality of rising tuition costs and increased school loan debt make purchasing an engagement ring impractical. For this I would sincerely appreciate an opportunity to provide her with a ring she deserves and give us a leg up on starting our lives together.

Not only would it be a good "dig" (no pun intended) at my buddy that just dropped a months salary on his fiancés ring but an amazing story for our engagement party.
