Siena men's golf finished ninth at the Villanova Invitational after the third and final round of play on Tuesday. Junior David Gushee led the Green and Gold with a third-round 77, and his 22nd-place finish was tops on the team.
Gushee made four bogeys in his first five holes, but rebounded to shoot just two-over-par over the final 13 holes at White Manor Country Club. His three-day total of 229 was 17 shots behind medalist Matthew Turner of Ohio State, who won in runaway fashion with a final cushion of seven shots.
It was a rough day for the Saints, who had four of five golfers shoot 81 or higher. Ohio State won the team portion of the event as well, defeating both Delaware and St. John's by 11 shots.
Siena returns to the links on April 15th, when the Saints tee it up at the Lafayette Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
