Ryan Rossiter to Appear in 2012 Malone Mulhall Benefit Game

July 25, 2012

Former Saint Ryan Rossiter '11 will play alongside Danny Green (San Antonio Spurs), Scott Machado (Iona, Houston Rockets [NBA Summer League]), Sylven Landesberg (New York Knicks[NBA Summer League]) Justin Burrell (St. John's, Golden State Warriors [NBA Summer League]), Paris Horne (St. John's, Charlotte Bobcats [NBA Summer League]), Vernon Goodridge (Milwaukee Bucks [NBA Summer League]) and other elite basketball players from New York in the Malone Mulhall Benefit Basketball Game to be held July 28 to honor the loss of three close friends, Michael Mulhall, Jamie Malone and Paige Malone. NBA Hall of Famer Chris Mullin and Mike Breen, lead commentator for the New York Knicks and the NBA on ESPN/ABC, will be celebrity coaches for the teams. Tobias Harris of the Milwaukee Bucks will also be in attendance to meet fans and sign autographs, but is unable to play in the game due to contract obligations.

On July 15th, 2010, Paige, Jamie and Michael were on their way to work at Camp ANCHOR, a recreational summer camp for our mentally and physically handicapped population of all ages, when their daily commute turned into a fatal accident.

The Camp ANCHOR (Answering the Needs of Citizens with Handicaps through Organized Recreation) community serves the Town of Hempstead, which covers 22 villages, and an estimated 800,000 people.

The Malone Mulhall Benefit Game has been established in an effort to do charitable work in memory of our friends, by providing an all-star basketball exhibition at Adelphi University on July 28th, 2012 at 1 PM. All proceeds will go to the Jamie and Paige Malone Foundation and the Michael Mulhall Memorial Scholarship. Tickets to the game are $15 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under each and available for purchase online at www.mmbenefitgame.com or at the Adelphi University gym the day of the game. All children are encouraged to participate in the autograph sessions with the players and coaches after the game.

"This game has the talent level of a NBA Summer League game, and its taking place right here in New York. It's truly sad to see what happened to these kids while they were doing such great work for their community, but this event will honor their memory by helping others. It will be a great day of entertainment for all." said Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs who is from North Babylon.

"Michael, Paige and Jamie would be behind this event 110 percent," said Mr. Mulhall. "They left us while in the service of others. That's what they were about, so it is very fitting that their friends carry on with their work by organizing this kind of fundraiser. We are deeply moved that their friends are keeping their spirit of service alive." Jim Malone, father of Jamie and Paige, and a career basketball coach in NYC at Beach Channel High School is also fully behind this event.
