Former Siena Saint Alex Franklin is headed to Germany to continue his professional basketball career. He will play for the Fraport Skyliners based in Frankfurt, Germany in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), Germany's top league. This is the same league where former Siena team mate Kenny Hasbrouck played last season with EWE Baskets.
When we caught up with Alex he gave us his thoughts. "I am pretty excited for the opportunity and am looking forward to making a name out there, to take full advantage of it. People spoke very highly of the organization, so I felt comfortable making the decision. It's a great opportunity for me and I'm ready."
Alex is entering his third professional season and is coming off a very successful year which included a few stops along the way. After beginning the season playing for Vichy of the Pro B league in France, where he led the team in scoring and rebounding, Franklin moved on to play with Huesca in the LEB Gold league in Spain where he became the league's 5th leading scorer, averaging 16.2 points per game, and was first in the league in steals with 2.5 per game at the conclusion of the regular season.
