LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Women's Basketball puts a bow on 2013 when the Saints host Rider in the MAAC home opener for a New Year's Eve matinee at 2 p.m. at the ARC. Gameday Central coverage begins with the Berkshire Bank Pregame Show at 1:30 p.m. locally on WVCR 88.3 FM "The Saint" and online at SienaAllAccess.com.
Mike Demos and Steve Amedio have the call of the game. Fans can both watch and listen to the action online exclusively at SienaAllAccess.com in addition to tuning into the radio broadcast locally on WVCR 88.3 FM "The Saint."
Siena (5-5, 0-1) looks to bounce back and even its MAAC mark following a conference-opening 86-80 defeat Sunday at Iona. The Saints are 16-8 all-time in MAAC home openers.
Rider (4-6, 0-1) too lost its conference opener, dropping a 67-61 decision at home vs. Fairfield Sunday. Projected to finish fifth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Broncs return three starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's team which won 15 games marking the program's most victories in 18 years.
Siena leads the all-time series with Rider 29-6 and the Saints' .829 winning percentage is their best vs. any MAAC opponent. Rider swept the season series last season for the first time in the 16-year history between the programs. Siena had won the previous 10 meetings.
Entering the program's final game of the calendar year, the Saints have posted a 14-16 overall record in 2013. A win would give Siena the program's most wins in a calendar year since claiming 16 victories during the Year 2005.
