Siena (4-3) has never beaten a nationally ranked opponent as the Saints are 0-13 all-time vs. Associated Press Top-25 teams and 0-14 against ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll Top-25 teams. Maryland (8-1) is ranked eighth in both polls.
The Saints are coming off a thrilling 64-60 win over Buffalo Saturday in which Siena overcame a 13-point deficit. With a win in either of its final two non-conference games, the Saints would finished with a winning regular season non-conference record for the first time in 11 years.
The Saints and Terrapins meet for the fourth time with Maryland winning the previous three meetings. The programs met for three consecutive seasons from 2004-06. Most recently, top ranked and defending National Champion Maryland overcame a late first half deficit to defeat Siena 93-54 here in College Park on Dec. 4, 2006.
Siena is 7-15 all-time against the 15 current members that comprise the Atlantic Coast Conference. However, the Saints have never defeated a program that was a member of the ACC at the time the game was played, having gone 0-7.
Winners of six in a row with their only loss this season against top ranked Connecticut, Maryland is led by two-time reigning ACC Player of the Year and ACC Preseason Player of the Year Alyssa Thomas who leads the nation with eight double-doubles over her first nine games. Maryland is 102-6 (.944) all-time in non-conference home games here at the Comcast Center.
