Final Stats

The Siena men's tennis team opened its 2013-14 season with a convincing 6-1 win over visiting St. Francis (N.Y.) Saturday in Loudonville. The Saints won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles competitions.

Ryan Schmitz set the tone with a 6-2 and 6-3 win at top singles. Schmitz teamed with Peter Collins for an 8-2 win at top doubles as well, and Collins won his match at No. 2 singles. Matt Funicello also won his singles and doubles match, teaming with Alex Burbine for an 8-0 shutout win at No. 3 doubles that secured the doubles point for Siena.

Siena returns to action next Saturday against Hartford at Schenectady's Central Park.
