NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - Siena Women's Basketball opens its annual Western New York swing when the Saints battle Niagara tonight at 7 p.m. at the Gallagher Center. Gameday Central coverage begins with the radio pregame show at 6:30 p.m. in the Capital Region on WVCR 88.3 FM "The Saint" and online at SienaAllAccess.com.
Fresh off the program's first win in 34 days, the Saints (7-16, 2-12) look to build momentum heading into the home stretch of the regular season. The Saints are 25-21 all-time on their Buffalo swing, having swept the annual weekend trip seven times.
Losers of three in a row, Niagara (7-16, 5-9) has slipped into a four-way tie for sixth place in the MAAC Standings, three games clear of Siena with six games left. The Saints' 68 games played and 41 Division I wins against the Purple Eagles are the program's most vs. any other school.
Niagara won the first meeting between the teams Jan. 10 in Albany 76-72, securing the program's first road win in the series in 11 years. Ida Krogh scored a career-high 21 points shooting 7-11 from three for the Saints, but Niagara's Meghan McGuinness also shot 7-11 from distance in scoring a career-high 29 points.
