Saints Falter in Buffalo

Amber Hatchett had 15 kills to lead host Buffalo past Siena 3-0 (25-14, 25-20 and 25-20) in the Saints' final match of the Buffalo Invite Saturday afternoon. Meghann Wright led Siena with nine kills and added 11 digs.

The Saints downed Lehigh 3-0 in their season-opener Friday and the Mountain Hawks bounced back to sweep Buffalo Friday night. Saturday was a different story.

The Saints hit just .113 for the match and didn't have single service ace. Buffalo hit .220 for the match and had six aces and 54 team digs.

The Bulls jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first set and never looked back, taking control with a commanding 25-14 triumph. The second set was tied 17-17 before the Bulls reeled off three straight points and Siena got no closer than two the rest of the way. The Saints held a 16-12 lead in the third set when Buffalo went on a tide-turning 7-0 run.

Rachel Stoklosa had eight kills and eight digs and Jacqueline Skeen had seven kills in 20 swings.

Next weekend Siena will participate in the Seton Hall Tournament. The Saints open play Friday at 2 p.m. against Rutgers.
