Eggleston Named ECAC Commissioner's Award Recipient

Sept. 17, 2014 LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Former longtime Siena College Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Women's Administrator Joyce Eggleston has been named one of four recipients for this year's Eastern College Athletic Association Commissioner's Award. Eggleston will formally receive her award and be honored on Sept. 28 during the ECAC Awards Dinner presented by Jostens at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Falmouth, Mass.

"I am extremely honored to receive the Commissioner's Award from the ECAC," said Eggleston upon the announcement. "It has been exciting to see the positive growth of the ECAC over the years and I can honestly say one of the highlights of my career was serving on the conference's Board of Directors."

The ECAC Commissioner's Award is presented for meritorious service to the ECAC or an ECAC member institution. The recipient must have demonstrated significant accomplishment in his or her chosen professional field or on the athletic field. Eggleston will be honored with the ECAC Commissioner's Award along with former Manhattan College Director of Athletics Bob Byrnes, former University of Hartford Athletic Director Pat Meiser and former University of Connecticut Head Women's Cross Country/Track and Field Head Coach Bill Morgan.

Eggleston retired her post in January, following 35 years of distinguished service to the Siena College Athletics Department. Over her three-plus decades of service, Eggleston handled myriad duties.

First hired as a Women's Athletic Coordinator, she was responsible for all aspects of the women's intercollegiate and intramural programs in addition to serving as Siena's first field hockey and softball head coach. She also served as an assistant coach on the women's basketball team which won the 1982 New York State AIAW Division II Championship.

During her tenure at Siena, Eggleston was promoted to Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman's Administrator, titles she held for the last 15 years. She oversaw the administration of student athlete services, including: student athlete engagement, academic support, educational programming, the NCAA Compliance Office and served as sport administrator for a number of Siena's teams.
