Final Stats
Katlyn Tyler killed 15 of her 27 swings leading Canisius to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16 and 25-23) sweep of Siena Sunday in Loudonville.
Shantraie Rodriguez led a balanced Saints' attack with six kills.
Canisius (1-10, 1-1) cruised to 25-16 victories in each of the first two sets, hitting .444 in the first and .314 in the second. Siena (3-10, 1-1) adjusted at intermission and gave a much better account of itself in a tough 25-23 loss in the decisive set.
Rachel Kline had 12 kills for Canisius including the game-winner. The Griffs won several long rallies that could have swung the tide of the match late in the third set to pick up their first win of the season.
Haley Howell took over the setting duties in the third set and Christina Monroe was inserted in the middle. Both of those changes paid off as Howell tallied 10 assists and Monroe killed five of her 11 attacks.
Bobbi Lin Kalama started as setter and moved to libero for the third set. She finished with a double-double, posting 18 assists and 11 digs.
Siena struggled with its block, as Canisius found the floor with little resistance in the first two sets and controlled a 10-5 edge in team blocks. The Griffs also out-dug Siena 45-39.
Griffs' setter Grace Streicher led all players with 39 assists and was a part of five of her team's 10 blocks.
The Saints travel to face Iona and Manhattan next weekend.
