Ten different Saints scored including five who posted multi-goal games as Siena Lacrosse led from start to finish in a 15-8 win over Mercer in Macon, Ga. Six players recorded multi-point performances for the Saints which have won back-to-back road games to improve to 2-2 on the year.
Senior captain Richie Hurley and classmate Nate Barry led a balanced Siena attack with four points apiece. With his performance, Hurley moved into 10th place on the program's all-time scoring list with 147 career points.
The teams combined for 87 shots, but it was the Saints that made the most of their opportunities. Siena scored the first five goals and raced out to as large as a seven-goal lead, 8-1 with 5:06 remaining in the first half. Mercer (0-3) never got any closer than four goals the rest of the way.
Senior captain Conor Prunty and sophomore attackman Jordan Barlow each added two goals and an assist and freshman Tim Cousin scored his first collegiate goal for the Saints which captured the first-ever meeting between the programs.
Three goalies saw action for the Saints, with junior Tommy Cordts playing the first half and earning the win with seven saves. Seniors Nick Capalbo and Kenny Carpenter shared time in the second half, recording five and two saves respectively.
Justin Evans scored and won 17-21 faceoffs while picking up eight groundballs and Chris Rahill added two goals and an assist in a losing effort for the Bears.
The Saints return home to host St. John's Saturday at 1 p.m. at Siena Turf Field.
