Final Stats

Monmouth shutout Siena in the MAAC spring opener Sunday at the Tri City Tennis Center in Latham. The Hawks won all six singles matches and swept the three doubles contests to post a 7-0 win.

Monmouth (6-7, 1-0) played without top singles player Victor Pugliese, but his teammates all stepped up their game moving up in the rotation.

Przemyslaw Filipek defeated Darren Reisch 6-3, 6-3 at top singles, and Ale Gomes Estrada followed suit with a victory over Diego Lebron at No. 2 singles by the same score.

Matthew Funiciello pushed his opponent to a tiebreaker in the second set at No. 5 singles for Siena (1-7, 0-3), and teamed with Allesandro Saglia in a tight 8-5 loss at No. 2 doubles.

The Saints return to action Saturday when they host Sacred Heart at noon.
