LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Kevin O'Shea tallied six points and netted a hat trick as Hartford went on a late five-goal run to pull away from Siena Lacrosse 14-9. Freshman attack Chris Robertson led the Saints with his second hat trick of the season.
Meeting for the 17th straight season in non-conference competition, Hartford (5-5) scored the first three goals and never trailed. The Saints (4-6) responded with a three-goal run to knot the score at 4-all early in the second quarter, but the Hawks would score four times in the final 7:25 of the half to take an 8-5 lead at the break.
Siena would rally as close as 9-7 midway through the third before Hartford scored five unanswered goals over 15:40 to put the game out of reach.
Sophomore attack Jordan Barlow and senior captain Conor Prunty each added three points for the Saints on two goals and an assist each. Senior Casey Dowd won 14-27 faceoffs and picked up a game-high nine groundballs for the Saints which have dropped three straight.
Justin Huggins scored a game-high four goals for Hartford and Ryan Vanderford made 13 saves in goal.
Siena is off for the next 11 days before continuing its season long four-game homestand on Saturday, Apr. 11 at noon against Manhattan. The game caps Alumni Weekend festivities for the Saints, which are hosting an Alumni Smoker on Friday, Apr. 10 from 6-10 p.m. at the nearby Holiday Inn Express in Latham.
