Here's Ten Things to Know About Today's Game
.) Siena (7-7, 4-0) returns to the Capital Region for its first home game in 27 days and first game at the ARC in 33 days. The Saints opened the season playing 11 of their first 14 games on the road, which included nine true road games.
.) Siena just concluded a stretch where they played five of six on the road and won four of those contests. The Saints have won their last three road games and have now recorded 17 true road wins since the beginning of last season.
.) Siena has won three straight and seven of its past nine games to even their record at .500 for the first time this season
.) The Saints are off to the program's first 4-0 start in the MAAC in five years, since opening the 2010-11 conference docket with five consecutive victories. With a win tonight, Siena would match the program's best MAAC start since opening the 2001-02 season 14-0 in league play.
.) The Saints hold the MAAC's longest active regular season conference winning streak - men or women - at eight straight. Siena has matched its longest MAAC regular season winning streak since winning a program record 26 straight from Jan. 19, 2001 - Feb. 9, 2002.
.) The Saints' bench - which is currently comprised of just four players - has exploded to score 101 points the past three games. Siena's reserves have outscored the team's starters 101-97, and their opponents' second unit 101-47 the past three games. Senior forward Symone Kelly and freshman guard Jackie Benitez have combined to score 79 of the bench's 101 points.
.) Benitez was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week for the second time on Monday, marking the 16th time in 41 weeks since the start of the 2013-14 season that the Saints' have boasted the league's top freshman. Benitez has scored 16 or more points in three of the last four games and leads all MAAC freshmen in scoring (9.7), while ranking fifth in the conference in scoring (14.3) in league play.
.) Siena ranks in the top-100 nationally in scoring defense (58.4), field goal percentage defense (.366), three-point field goal percentage defense (.254 - 21st nationally), steals (10.4) and turnovers forced (19.6). The Saints have held nine of their last 11 opponents under 40% shooting and are 23-4 since the start of last season when doing so.
.) Siena and Rider meet for the 40th time, with the Saints holding a decided 30-9 advantage. The Broncs had reeled off five straight wins in the series, before Siena secured a convincing 65-43 victory in the most recent matchup last February in Lawrenceville. The Saints' .769 all-time winning percentage against Rider is the program's best against any MAAC school.
.) Rider (3-10, 0-4) has lost five straight and nine of 10 since opening the season with consecutive victories and have also dropped their last seven MAAC regular season contests and eight straight league games overall. The Broncs were projected to finish 11th (last) in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing in a three-way tie for seventh last season. Junior guard Robin Perkins ranks second in the MAAC in scoring (15.3).
