Siena opened up the 2016-2017 campaign with a dual meet at Assumption. The Saints fell 163-94, winning four of the 16 events.
Freshman Rachel Brown won the 200yd freestyle (2:00.65) in her collegiate swimming debut. Sophomore Elizabeth Fournier captured the top spot in the 100yd butterfly (1:02.31).
The 200yd IM was won by junior Fiona Dretzka (2:22.21). Sophomore Emma Rupert (2:24.32) and junior Erica Askew (2:26.74) finished second and third respectively in the event to give Siena all 16 points for the race.
The Saints' final victory of the day came in the 200yd free relay (1:44.11). Francesca Tinucci, Maggie Davenport, Colleen McDonough, and Maggie Fletcher made up Siena's winning team.
Siena will be back in the pool next weekend on Saturday and Sunday, October 14 and 15 at the Catholic Invite in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. The Saints finished fifth in last year's competition.
