Feb. 12, 2016 Siena was right back at it again Friday when they competed in day three of the MAAC Championships. The Saints moved back into fifth place after multiple solid performances.
In the first event of the afternoon, Emma Rupert finished the 1000 Free in a time of 10:38.86.
The next event was the 400 IM and senior captain Emily Carideo was the top Saint in the event, swimming a time of 4:36.90. Theresa Cotter finished in second in the B Final of the event in 4:36.23, which is now a school record.
In the 100 Fly, junior Maggie Fletcher took second in the B Final in a time of 59. 42. Fletcher then placed seventh in the 200 Free to add another strong performance on the day for the Saints in a time of 1:57.42.
The strongest showing from the Siena came in the 100 Breastroke when Erika Askew and Lauren Daly took fourth and fifth, respectively to lead the team in the event.
The Saints would also put up solid performances in the 100 Back when Theresa Cotter and Fiona Dretzka finished fourth and eighth, respectively.
In the final swimming event of the afternoon, Siena took fifth in the 400 Yard Medley Relay when the team of Cotter, Daly, Fletcher and Francesca Tinucci took fifth in the event in a time of 3:58.17.
Siena will look improve their place in the Championship standings when the team is right back in the pool tomorrow for the first session which is set to begin at 10 a.m., which is the first of two sessions on the final day of the championships.
