Siena's new indoor track program had its finest showing yet of its inaugural season, with the men running second and the women finishing sixth at the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Invitational in West Long Branch, N.J. Freshmen Luciano Fiore and Sarah Forman each won races for the Saints in the team's final meet before its initial MAAC Championship appearance next weekend.

"This was our final competition before the MAAC Championships next weekend, and it was our best meet to date," said head coach John Kenworthy. "Having two freshmen win events and set new school records is certainly a highlight, but it went down the board through the entire team. We are running season and personal bests, and carry great momentum into our first Championship next Sunday."

Host and regional power Monmouth won both the men's and women's races, although Siena finished ahead of both Rider teams in an impressive all-around performance.

On the men's side, Fiore captured the 46-runner 800-meter race. His time of 1:57.74 set a new school record and places him ninth on the MAAC list heading into the conference championship.

The Saints captured five of the top-eight times in the 3000-meter, led by sophomore Travis Fairlee who finished in a time of 8:45.90. Each of the Saints' top-five finishers in the race ran new personal record times and recorded five of the eight fastest 3000-meter times in program history.

On the women's side, Forman captured the mile race with a new school record time of 5:14.07. Senior captain Christie MacFarlane and freshman Serena Rizzo finished close behind with the second and third fastest school times, with Rizzo winning her heat of the race.

Forman and Rizzo also won their heats of the 800-meter, with Forman setting a school record time of 2:24.91. MacFarlane wrapped up an all-around strong performance by the Saints, running a school record time of 3:15.54 in the 1000-meter.

The Saints will look to build off this momentum when they compete in the program's first-ever MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships which take place Sunday at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center in New York City.
