Feb. 20, 2016 Hobart bridged the third and fourth quarters with five unanswered goals to defeat Siena Lacrosse 12-9 in the Cobb County Classic held in Kennesaw, Ga. Sophomore attackman Chris Robertson led the Saints with three points on two goals and an assist.
Siena (0-2) led 5-3 at the half, but Hobart (1-1) scored six times in the third quarter to reclaim the lead. Freshman attackman Keenan Cook knotted the score for the Saints at 7-7 midway through the third, but the Statesmen scored five times over the ensuing nine and a half minutes to take a 12-7 advantage early in the fourth quarter.
Cook finished with his first two collegiate goals for Siena and also caused a pair of turnovers. Junior attackman Jordan Barlow and sophomore midfielder Tim Cousin each contributed a goal and an assist apiece for the Saints.
Sean Donnelly and Frank Brown scored four goals apiece to pace Hobart. Brown scored three of his four goals during the Statesmen's decisive five-goal spurt.
Senior captain Tommy Cordts made 11 saves and junior defenseman Joe Arcarese caused three turnovers for Siena which forced Hobart into 15 turnovers. With his second straight three caused turnover game to begin the season, Arcarese moved into a tie for seventh on the program's all-time list with 26.
Hobart held edges in shots (48-37), groundballs (35-20) and faceoffs (17-7).
The Saints conclude their Spring Break swing through Georgia Tuesday with a doubleheader with the Siena women's team at Mercer. The women's season opener begins at 3 p.m., with the men's game set to follow at 6 p.m.
