Mercer used a six-goal second half run to rally past Siena Lacrosse 12-11 in Macon, Ga. Chris Robertson, reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week Keenan Cook and Tim Cousin scored two goals apiece to lead the Saints.
Siena outshot the Bears 41-32 while Mercer edged the Saints in the groundball category by a margin of 17-12. Jon-Michael Tokar paced the Saints with a pair of assists. Cook and Robertson were tied for the team lead in points recorded (three).
Siena scored the first three goals and took and 8-4 lead at the break.
Coming out of the locker room the Bears offense was fueled by a 6-0 run, all six goals coming from six different players.
With the lead 11-9 in favor of Mercer, the Saints would not go away quietly. Fourth quarter goals by Cousin and Brian Prunty knotted the game at 11 with 4:31 to go.
With 2:04 to go in the contest Chris Baxa scored on a pass from Chris Rahill to put the Bears in front. That goal turned out to be the decisive tally as Siena dropped a tight non-conference contest.
Siena goalie Tommy Cordts recorded eight saves in the loss.
The Saints will play their first home game of the 2016 campaign when the team hosts UMass-Lowell Saturday at 1 p.m.
