Quinnipiac scored seven unanswered goals over 15 and a half minutes spanning the middle of the second half to rally past Siena Lacrosse 11-6 in Hamden, Conn. Senior captain Kevin Cousin led the Saints offensively, scoring his first collegiate hat trick.
Sophomore attack Chris Robertson added three points and sophomores Tim Cousin and Brian Prunty contributed a goal and an assist apiece for the Saints (1-6, 0-2). Sophomore Aaron Lewis made seven saves and picked up a team-high four groundballs in his first collegiate start in goal.
Ryan Keenan led all scorers with five points and Brian Feldman contributed a hat trick for Quinnipiac (4-3, 1-0). Jack Brust stopped 14 shots in goal.
Siena led 4-3 at the half and 5-3 midway through the third quarter. But that's when the Bobcats responded with their decisive run to claim a 10-5 lead with just 8:14 remaining in the contest.
The Saints held a 38-34 advantage in shots, while Quinnipiac harbored a 28-19 margin in groundballs and won 16-21 faceoffs. Siena's defense killed off nine of their 11 man-down situations.
The Saints return to action Saturday when they head to Detroit for a 1 p.m. faceoff.
